According to the U.S. Government’s fuel economy site, gas mileage very rapidly decreases once you go past 60mph.
Every 5mph driven over 60mph is like paying an additional $.30 per gallon of gas. Apply that to your weekly gas prices…

Not only are fewer cars on the road and public trans ridership numbers up by 20% which is great news for the environment, but this also means fewer rage-filled, inconsiderate, law-breakin’ Utah drivers running red lights, rubbernecking at accidents, causing more accidents, shooting at other drivers from their cars, etc. Ha ha.
Seriously, though, it just goes to show that when people are hit where it hurts most (which in this country means the pocketbook) there is no option but to downscale our opulent, wasteful lifestyles regardless of where on the political spectrum people believe these changes place them… Just sayin’.
